Greg Lawson

Greg's extensive experience in the catering industry stretches back over 28 years. After graduating from Southfields College Greg gained vital experience in several well known establishments before opening his own restaurant "Gregory's" in the early eighties, a further restaurant, charcuterie and outdoor catering business followed in quick succession. As well as serving great food Gregory's entered and won the Beaujolais race twice, came second in the International spare rib cook off competition in Ohio, America and was the first establishment to serve alligator in Great Britain.

In 1992 Greg and a business partner formed Lawson Beaumont, a high end outdoor catering business and quickly established themselves as a market leader. Specialising in film premieres, high profile car launches and bespoke events. Highlights included launching British Airways new colours in front of Concorde at Heathrow, film Premieres including Eraser and Broken Arrow, the opening of the London Eye and working with Marco Pierre white in a 3 ½ month nationwide launch of the Land Rover Discovery.

One of the reasons that Lawson Beaumont grew so fast was a roll out outdoor catering formula that Greg designed "The Christmas Company" which stormed the market and in its height catered for 130.000 guests during the festive period making it one of the most successful catering companies of its era. Lawson Beaumont was sold to Sodexho in 1997. Greg took back the management of The Christmas Company under contract from Sodexho until early 2006 during this time The Christmas Company enjoyed steady and significant growth making it the largest and most successful Christmas party operator in the UK.

Smart Hospitality was formed in 2004 and has quickly established itself as one of London's leading caterers with an emphasis on funky menus, young enthusiastic staff and attention to detail. Smart shares its head office in Covent Garden with parent company Quantum Leap events and sister company Battersea Evolution (a 5500 m² venue in central London).

Smarts recent clients form an impressive list, catering for the likes of HRH The Earl of Wessex and Elton John, to name but two.

Greg continues to ambitiously drive the business and personally presides over each and every job.
